Recent paintings - (investigating materiality and illusion: things pretending to be other things; paint pretending to be something else)

These works form part of "The Artist's Collections" series where I imagine I am a collector of real and imagined objects. In this work, I am a collector of plastic, ceramic, wood and metal objects all pretending to be other things. Sometimes I've won a trophies for my collections.

I'm interested in a meta-analysis of painting, materiality and illusion: here, these objects pretending to be something other are rendered in blobs and strokes of paint on a 2D surface giving the illusion of something else.a painting based project of the real and imagined collections of the artist.
